The Homelessness Charter, developed by groups working alongside people affected by homelessness is the city’s new approach to tackling homelessness. One strand of this approach is the Big Change Fund, Manchester’s alternative giving strategy, that aims to maximise the use of public donations for the benefit of people who are homeless. The Charter outlines the principles that establish how people experiencing homelessness should be treated and how the city intends to deal with the problem. Allied London pledge an annual donation of £5,000, with a further £5,000 pledged by Allied London CEO Michael Ingall, making a total pledge to the Big Change Fund of [...]

Sir Chris Hoy, was in sunny Leeds on 9th May as the first customer at new North Star Coffee Roasters at Leeds Dock. Picking up a brand new coffee machine, Hoy gave his seal of approval to the creative hub’s newest arrival, Leeds-based coffee roaster and barista academy, North Star. North Star, who launched in 2013, were the first speciality coffee roasters in Leeds and will be running monthly events and talks from their academy space at Leeds Dock including public tastings and home Barista classes. Hoy spent a couple of hours there enjoying a brew and gaining an insight into the craft of roasting.Leeds [...]
